DORIS ARCHIE was born May 11, 1925 to Leroy and Wavie Kendrick in Birmingham, Alabama.
Doris was highly educated and caught on to things quickly, she excelled in her studies and succeeded in getting certificates, diplomas, and awards, she was a great teacher of not only education, but on how to live a long and joyful life in the Lord, Family, and Friends.
Doris accepted Jesus Christ as her lord and savior at an early age and became a member of The Greater Emmanuel Apostolic Church, which was introduced to her by her mother Wavie Kendrick was a member for over 50 years! She sang in the choir, gracefully using her angelic voice to sing praises to God. She has performed in various churches and conventions spreading her love of the Gospel and God with others. Doris loved working in the Church Coordinator for various programs and services.
Doris had a talent for fashion, she enjoyed making beautiful clothes, hats, scarfs, dress suits, coats and furs. Her favorite color was anything "Bright", she truly had blessed hands, Buckingham Place had nothing on Doris when it came to make hats which she crafted with fierce styling and imagination.
Doris was asset to every employer she worked for, but her own sense of fashion put her on the map for entrepreneurship. Doris loved people, she wouldn't hesitate to pray for others, and loved to spark up conversations. Doris was best known for her famous "Mac-N-Cheese and her Sweet Potatoe pies", as well as her lovely dinner parties. She was the founder of the senior group known as " The Golden Girls" that held and catered various Christmas parties for the people they loved.
On June 7, 2020 Doris made her peace and went to be home with the Lord. She was married to Eugene Archie for 19 years and had a daughter; Diane Llambelis both who proceded her in death. Four sisters; Shirley, Corrine, Lorraineand Eva (deceased), four grandchildren; Roxanne, Linda, Sherelle, and Robert. Eight great grandchildrens, and two great-great grandchildren.
